November is American Diabetes Month and this is a disease that seems to be affecting everyone, most of us know someone who has diabetes. Diabetes occurrence is at epidemic levels in our country, an estimated 7.8% of the population has diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association 1.6 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed yearly in people 20 years and older.
Today, November 18, is the 35th annual Great American Smokeout. The American Cancer Society urges smokers to use today as a date to make a plan to quit smoking. If you are a smoker, you can take today to plan an important step towards being healthier.
