The Environmental Working Group has put out their latest consumer guide! This list, in my opinion, is the most valuable resource they offer to the public.
The best way to support your health is to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. It is vitally important that you avoid produce that was grown with the use of pesticides. By opting to purchase organic produce, you lower your exposure to pesticides and support organic farmers. Pesticides have been shown to disrupt the functioning of the endocrine and nervous systems. It is great to buy organic whenever possible, but we all know that sometimes an organic option for a particular fruit or vegetable isn’t available. When this situation arises – refer to the Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce. The Dirty Dozen is the list that you should always buy organic. The Clean Fifteen – you can buy these conventionally grown if you need to.
Here is the 2015 list. Download a PDF version here.
