In doctor’s offices all over the United States, fatigue is the most common complaint by patients. It is probably the most over looked complaint that gets lost in the shuffle of the patient’s main complaint and its prescription. An in-depth look into fatigue includes ruling out many possible causes such as anemia, side effects of medications, eating disorders, insomnia, poor diet, and endocrine imbalances to name a few.
Wet socks is a home remedy I often recommend to patients who come in with acute colds/flus and upper respiratory infections. This treatment is a great way increase circulation in your body and is best if repeated for three nights in a row. Indications: Sore throat or any inflammation or infection of the throat, neck pain, ear infections, headaches, migraines, nasal congestion, upper respiratory infections, coughs, and sinus infections.
Last week while having lunch with a fabulous friend at Lettuce in Walnut Creek, I had gazpacho. Gazpacho is a refreshing Spanish cold tomato soup and the burst of flavors in my mouth transported me back to my days at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Four of us in my medical school class had a ‘lunch club’ – we would each take turns bringing in lunch for everyone once a week. This cut down our daily hassle of fixing a daily lunch and we had to worry about we were having for lunch less often.
